Sunshine Ukes decision to disband the group - September 2018
After
six years of playing gigs Sunshine Ukes have decided to disband. All confirmed bookings for the remainder of
this year will be honoured, but no further bookings can be made by the group.
During
the six years the group have entertained at a variety of places including care
homes, school fetes, private birthday parties, picnics, Deal Carnival, local
festivals including Blean, Sandwich, Rye, Faversham, Smugglers pop up, Crabble
Mill Beer festival, Deal Maritime and Broadstairs Folk Week. We have played at several local folk clubs, on a steam tug,
at Eurotunnel passenger terminal, at the Astor Theatre, in Tides Leisure Centre
and even traveled as far as Charlton Athletic Stadium to celebrate an 80th
birthday.
We
have often been seen busking and would like to thank the public for their
generosity in helping us to raise a total of £2520.00, which has been given to
local charities. Our thanks also go to
our supporters and anyone who has given us a booking.
Although
the band has finished, several members remain part of Landmark Ukulele
Group. This group meets at the Landmark
Centre in Deal every Friday from 10 - 12 and anyone wishing to play the ukulele
is very welcome.
