About Us

The finest ukulele band in all of Deal, the Sunshine Ukes, first took shape on a snowy day in February 2012, with just 4 persons, 4 ukes and only a mild understanding of how to play the C chord. It wasn't long before other local players came along to learn and play various songs and tunes and we were delighted to have had 3 chords mastered!

As we grew in size and ambition, the Sunshine Ukes quickly became a performing band with a broad and varied repertoire and a steely determination to avoid the E chord. Now with a 13-strong line-up and some dazzling waistcoats, we can be seen out and about at folk clubs, charity and community events, local festivals, busks and any gigs that scream out for the mighty ukulele.

We run a weekly session in a local community centre for all levels of experience and beginners are always welcome. We regularly get 20+ participants at these sessions which are structured to cater for all levels of experience. There is a bar and it is, of course, frequented.
